the importance of beatles
2007-03-01 | 6:03 p.m.

i discussed the importance of the beatles with my cousin yesterday. if you ask her they're too overestimated and if you ask me, i can see why she thinks like she does. i have this other friend who has the same opinion as her and sometimes i can surely agree to them. BUT they forget something...when the beatles existed back in the 60's the technical abilities were far from what they are today. especially in the beginning. the beatle somehow where a part of that change. or at least they changed the way of recording in a studio and experimenting with their sound and ways of making a record sound. (yes i'm thinking about sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band here). so yes they have been very important to the music whether you like it or not. even the rolling stones was speechless after the release of sgt. pepper. the magazine writes: "sgt. pepper broke the rules of pop, opening the doors on a fantasia of sound.". it couldn't be said better.

speaking of the bealtes i was reading a major article about them in my new mojo magazine and saw this:

yellow submarine pin

how cool is that?!

another thing that has been in my thoughts all day is the clearing of 'ungdomshuset' (it sounds stupid to translate in english...but it says "the house of youth"). normally i wouldn't care much since the house is in copenhagen and it's the fewest people in my set that has anything to do with the house. but my day started with a text message from toke telling me that he had to cancel our deal tonight due to a demonstration he have to participate in. which made me angry...but instead of actually being angry and disappointed i've done some research so i can make a kind of opinion of this clearing and the coming demonstrations.

i must say that i've become even more neutral i think. 'cause i really like some of the things 'ungdomshuset' represents. it's like christiania. it's kind of like an utopia. representing fellowship, vegan stuff, underground subcultures and such. respect to them for trying to live their idea of a great life out in reality. they've really fought for it for years (keeping the fellowship, renovate the house and so on). but in a way i think the government have done their best to understand (though it shouldn't be so difficult), negotiating and all that. and clearly it hasn't worked so well. the government have just tried to follow the law and tried to make everyone happy. the most stupid thing they'd ever done was to sell that damn building...

hmm...well...after all this research and thoughts i must conclude that i'm still not sure what i think about it all. i'm more or less neutral, inclining most to the young people as long as they wont get violent in their demonstration. a demonstration i'm looking at in the television right now... just think i saw toke being held up by the police...

have to stop now...more updates tomorrow...maybe.
