musically and lyrically i'd say randy newman but there's also some 70's blue eyed soul thing there, too. people have also mentioned jeff buckley, tom waits, the beatles... and although these are perhaps good reference points, there's certainly no one else around quite like him. basically, he's a really good songwriter and he's definitely got that 'star' thing...

the demos are fantastic so we're releasing six of them as a mini-album before ed records his first album proper, which we'll aim to have out in the spring of 2001."
