fatness epidemic
2007-01-31 | 9:47 p.m.

they've spoken so much about it in the media during at least the last 5 years or so.
'when is it coming?!'
'is it already over us?!'
'so and so much percentage of the children in denmark are too fat'
'does the canteens at the schools serve too unhealthy food?!'
'what do we do about it?!'...etc.
it somehow makes me angry that they focus so much on it. 'cause for my part it's way too late to do anything. my body, self-confidence and child hood is already ruined one way or another. when i went to nursery school as a 3 year-old they served us juice all day long. today the children in day care nurseries and nursery schools almost never get juice, unless it's someone's birthday or something. and they even have rules about how much candy the kids can have. when i was 4 years old it was pretty obvious that i was weighing too much considering my age. but no one did anything. the first time i was told to lose weight was when i was 6 and already started in school where people made fun of me, which continued throughout primary school.

but tonight somewhere in the television, they talked about becoming aware of overweight amongst 2 year-old children and start doing something about it already at that age. actually it wasn't that fact that irritated me the most, it was a woman who afterwards said that she didn't agree that they have to step in this early in the childhood. apparently she doesn't know what she's talking about! i blame the fact that i got juice everyday as a kid has something to do with my need for sugar everyday today. i know it's possible to break the habit but i also know how easy it is to fall right back in to it again. now i made it sound like i'm eating candy every day. i don't. but i do in periods. i mean...it's fine that they finally do something about it that early today. thinking of the children going through a better childhood maybe...
