on my way to malaga, i got inspired of the song called "postcards from italy" by beirut. but i haven't found internet before today, so this entry is very long...

subject: postcards from spain - tunnels of madrid and fog in m�laga (day 1)

my father has this gps thing in our car. he bragged so much about it yesterday morning....until we hit the tunnels of madrid and the satelite signals disappeared and we got lost in the tunnels and drove around for about half an hour before we finally hit the right highway and made our way to malaga. at that point the tunnels weren't a hit...at least he didn't brag so much about it anymore. hah! which i enjoyed.

i've been so tired all day. haven't felt like being social...and the heat is buggin' me. i'm not very good at heat. i've never been good at heat. i've kind of changed my mind about going...but it's too late now. and thinking about how the weather was in denmark before we left (very cold, windy and rainy), i really shouldn't complain. although i actually started to like the rain. i am not complaining or sad for that matter. i just think i need some sleep and a swim in the ocean tomorrow. maybe that'll help on my weird silence.

subject: postcards from spain - the beach and burning

finally we found our way to the beach (it's right outside the front door!). bought some air mattresses and went for a swim in the lovely water. it's a really lovely beach. normally i'm not that fond of bathing in the ocean, but this beach is good enough for me. so good that i almost forgot about the burning sun lying at the air mattress floating around. so of course i got sunburned...on my back and on both of my thighs...ouch.

so i wasn't to happy about running around in the sun the rest of the day. still we went out for dinner and a sundowner (a tradition we've had in my family for many years now when we're down south, drinking a drink in the sunset). i got a tequila sunrise...years ago since i've had one of those. the next sundowner have to be a strawberry daiquiri!

oh...and yet another of my friends is having birthday today. johan that is...happy birthday! i hear the sun is shining at home. woo...or wooo wa!! as he would have said it himself. hah.

subject: postcards from spain - mosquito bite and still burning

so after the sunburn yesterday, and a really weird sleep during the night, i decided to stay away from the beach today. lying around on the couch getting smeared in yoghurt natural, taking a cold shower, reading, taking a cold shower, making some cd's for the long drive back to madrid on saturday in honour of my parents so they wont get bored. my back still hurts like hell and i can't really sit up nor lie on my back and it hurts every time i move. dammit.

to make matters worse a mosquito or ten of them have fallen in love me, as i had at least 15 mosquito bites all over my body when i woke up today. even one under my foot!! argh!

this has been my occupation today...

subject: postcards from spain - church and the beach

shortly after i wrote my entry yesterday we took a drive up to the mountains. up to the so called white village where my father has been on a danish hospital a couple of years ago. we went for a walk to the little church with a spectacular view and ended up on this restaurant where some of the waiters talked danish (the owner is danish) and had a delicious dinner. we're going back there thursday or friday. yummy! here's some black and white pics from that trip:

i didn't sleep well last night at all. my back was burning really bad and i was sick and tired of sleeping either on my stomach or my right or left side. i was ready to give anything to be able to lie on my back and fall asleep without any pain. i hope it will be better tonight.

most of the day today has gone with swimming in the sea and reading. i'm convinced that the salty water may be good to my burned skin.

the last event of today has been mini golf. and of course i lost.

subject: postcards from spain - caves and expeditions

today we went to nerja to see some fascinating caves (see the pics below). afterwards we found this really cosy restaurant with the most spectacular view and had a delicious dinner. tonight we're buying pizza and taking a swim in the sea.

i probably wont be updating this 'till i'm home on sunday again. as my attempt to get internet in the apartment failed yesterday and i'm not fond of internet caf�'s. but i think it may be good that you have a couple of days or four to read this entry through and enjoy it. the rest of the postcards will be online as soon as i'm home again.
